Artist’s Statement

“Rapidly advancing technology coupled with mass consumerism and the spread of capitalist ideals has led to a culture that rapidly produces high-end devices that are quickly broken and discarded, rather than repaired or repurposed.

“Cities like Beijing are filled with toxic smog, which destroys the environment and deteriorates the health of the people in the area.  Consumer demand drives manufacturing centers to continue to pollute the region.  This piece is meant to show what I think the future will look like if this continues worldwide, and is an appeal to reform consumer culture.”
